Education is the Key to Healthy Eating
Stockport teachers can benefit from extra help in the classroom thanks to the school catering team from Solutions SK Ltd, Stockport Council's recently formed wholly owned company.
The Council's catering team has this week added a teacher's resource section to its website www.myschoollunch.co.uk/stockport
The My School Lunch website is both an educational and fun tool for children to learn safely about food and healthy eating whilst keeping parents informed of changes and developments in school meals.
Teachers can download the pre-designed lesson plans and worksheets which are all related to the funfair of educational games on the website and cover key elements of the National Curriculum.
The teaching resource area is protected by a password which will be given to the Headteacher at every school in the borough and is available to all Stockport teachers on request. Lesson plans are available for all stages of Key Stages 1 and 2 on the website.
Councillor John Pantall, Executive Member for Children's Services, said: "By adding the teacher's resource section to the website pupils, parents and teachers can all work together in a whole school approach to ensure the health of children is our top priority. These resources have been created by teachers for teachers and I am sure they will find them both relevant and useful. Not only do they tie into the National Curriculum but they will also help schools achieve many elements of the Healthy School Status programme."
If you are a teacher in Stockport and would like to access the free downloadable lesson plans contact Solution SK's Marketing and Communications Officer, Sofia Khan on 0161 474 5681.
