School Meals Service Serves Up Another Success

The School Catering team from Solutions SK Ltd, Stockport Council's recently formed wholly owned company, has scooped yet another award at the annual Blakemore Food Service Catering Team of the Year Awards.

Despite facing stiff competition from catering teams in the private and public sectors from across the country, Julie Keen, Training Co-ordinator for School Meals for Solutions SK Ltd gained the top award in the 'Your Story - Cost Sector' category at the awards.

Throughout the year, Julie visited all primary school sites to develop and mentor the 'Cooks-in-Charge'. She also helped by passing on her presentation skills and supported the rest of the team in their commitment to delivering a healthy menu to all children in the borough.

• Other teams and schools short-listed for the awards from Solutions SK Ltd included:
  The Venue Catering team for the 'Meals on Wheels at Linnet Clough' project in the 'Eating Environment - Cost Sector' category
• Didsbury Road Primary School Catering Team for the 'Customer Service - Cost Sector' category
• St James High School Catering Team in the 'Business Building - Cost Sector' category

The prestigious awards ceremony took place in Coventry and was attended by all the finalists.

Solutions SK Ltd's School Meals service caters for more than 100 schools across the borough, providing the equivalent of over four million healthy meals throughout the year.

Councillor John Pantall, Executive Member for Children's Services, said: "The catering teams at every school always put in 110% to make sure every child has a healthy lunch. The transition to Solutions SK Ltd has been a lengthy and challenging process, but the quality of meals and the service provided have remained consistently high, as always. These nominations and awards show that the commitment and effort of both individuals and teams has not gone unnoticed. Well done to everyone."
