Healthy Eating Wins Out!

Two lucky pupils from Stockport each won £20 worth of book tokens after winning an online competition based around healthy eating.

The competition was run on the My School Lunch website, Stockport's official primary school meals website managed by Solutions SK Ltd, the Council's wholly owned company.

One of the winners, Ben Murray, a Year 6 pupil at Cale Green Primary School, had a surprise visit from Deano the Dinosaur, the school meals mascot, who presented him with a prize and a certificate.

The My School Lunch website has proved to be a big success, providing parents and teachers with up-to-date news and information on school meals and healthy eating in Stockport, as well as giving feedback on school menus.

By logging on to onto www.myschoollunch.co.uk/stockport children can learn all about nutrition and different foods whilst playing games on this password protected site. Parents also have the opportunity to give feedback using the online consultation form.

Councillor John Pantall, Executive Member for Children's Services, said: 'Nutrition and healthy eating within schools is very much in the spotlight. It is therefore more important then ever for the Solutions SK catering team, teachers and the Food in Schools Group to work together in a whole school approach to reinforce the importance of everyone adopting healthier lifestyles.

'The My School Lunch website provides a wealth of information so that everyone can get the most out of their school meals. The School Catering team does a wonderful job serving interesting and healthy lunches to thousands of pupils across Stockport.'

Solutions SK provides healthy and nutritious meals to primary and secondary schools across the borough. Changes in government policy for healthier lifestyles means the menus have been developed further to include traditional roast dinners, tossed salads, steamed vegetables, wholemeal assorted breads/wraps with various fillings and a wider range of fresh fruit, available daily.
