Solutions SK Celebrates Success with Awards Ceremony
More than 300 employees from Solutions SK, the Council's wholly owned company, attended the first ever Achievement in Excellence Awards ceremony.
The awards ceremony was held at Stockport Town Hall Ballroom to celebrate the success of the winning teams and the first birthday of Solutions SK.
The event was hosted by Dennis O'Byrne, Head of Service School Scene, and began with speeches by David Teale, Chair of the Board of Directors and Nic Cox, Solutions SK Managing Director.
A prize draw to celebrate the first birthday of the service was drawn by the Mayor of Stockport, Councillor June Somekh. The four winners each received a cheque for £250. A raffle helped raise more than £480 for the mayor's chosen charities - Stockport MIND and Beechwood Cancer Care with a raffle.
David Teale, said: "The event was a great way to mark the first anniversary of Solutions SK, and it has been an absolute privilege to Chair a company that has made such progress in such a short period of time. On behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to thank everyone for their hard work, dedication and commitment over the last year."
Nic Cox, said: "We could not have achieved what we have done over the last year if it wasn't for all the hard work and dedication of every Solutions SK employee. I believe that everyone associated with the service can be proud of what we have achieved so far."
The team awards were won by the following:
- The Security Gates Barriers Team for Most Promising New Business
- Passenger Transport for Performance Through People
- The Control Centre for Working in Partnership
- St. James' Catholic High School's Catering Team for Innovation & Creativity
- Marketing & Communications Team for Best Marketing Initiative
- Building Cleaning Team for Health & Safety
- Highways Eco-centre for The Green Team
- Stockport School Catering Team for Customer Excellence
- Reddish Vale Technology College's Catering Team for the Cultural Creativity award
- Business Support Team for Service Team of the Year
Individual awards were also given to the following people:
- Ken Raikes, Street Cleansing received the Extra Mile award
- Elaine Appleby, School Catering won the Betty Shepherd award
- Caroline Swaffer, School Catering and Laura Smith, Business Support were given Volunteers of the Year awards
- Karen Wright, from Building Cleaning received a Special Recognition award
- Barbara Fretwell, the longest serving employee from Building Cleaning was also recognised with an amazing 37 years service.
The awards were held on Friday 9th November and Solutions SK would like to thank the sponsors who kindly supported the evening by donating funds and raffle prizes. The sponsors included Brakes, Abbeywell Drinks, Holophane Europe Ltd, City Electrical Factors, Jeyes, Liveseys, TransLinc, WRTL Exterior Lighting and Zodian Street Lighting Controls.
