(Left to right front row) Steve Jones and Jennie Bannister Solutions SKResidents of Offerton and Hazel Grove now have a great new way to get out and about with a new door-to-door Local Link transport service that launched this week.

The new service links Offerton, Hazel Grove, Great Moor and Stepping Hill and is funded by Greater Manchester Integrated Transport Authority (GMITA).

The service is operated by Solutions SK, a Stockport Council company, and will provide residents with a convenient and reliable way to get around the local area – including getting to and from medical appointments or visiting people at Stepping Hill Hospital.
The service is for Offerton and Hazel Grove, providing people with a convenient and affordable way to get to work, shops, leisure pursuits and importantly to the local hospital – as well as connecting them with wider bus and rail networks.

The service is available Monday to Friday, 8am – 6pm (except bank holidays) and will pick residents up from home or wherever they happen to be, and take them anywhere in the operating area.

There are more than 30 Local Link services throughout the county which are proving extremely popular with the public and they’re a cost-effective way to provide good transport links in areas where there isn’t enough demand for bus operators to run a commercial service.

To book the service, residents should call 0161 482 7220 at least one hour before they want to travel, or book online at www.stockport.gov.uk. Journeys can be booked up to one week in advance. Fares are: Adult: £1.70 single / £3.00 return; Concessionary: 80p single / £1.20 return

Three other Local Link services run in Stockport – one in North Reddish and Dane Bank, a second serving Heald Green, Gatley and Cheadle Royal, and a third in Mellor, Marple, Compstall and High Lane.
More information about the services can be found at www.gmpte.com/locallink or by calling Traveline on 0871 200 22 33.
