Press Room05/02/2010 ANOTHER GREEN INITIATIVE FROM SOLUTIONS SK Solutions SK, Stockport Council’s wholly owned company is increasing its green initiatives by installing cardboard and plastic baling machines at its head office. The two machines will be used for internal use and for recyclables collected by the Waste Solutions SK’s Skips team from commercial properties. The baling machines are an efficient way for Solutions SK to recycle even more. The machine works by squeezing the air from a load using hydraulics and baling it. The machines also mean that the vehicles can take larger amounts to the recycling depot in one trip, therefore reducing travelling mileage. Nic Cox, Managing Director for Solutions SK, said: “We are keen to introduce environmentally friendly initiatives throughout the company. The machines allow us to reduce our carbon footprint and make a number of cost savings.” For more information about the company and services provided, visit the website at www.solutionssk.co.uk Solutions SK is currently working towards ISO 14001:2004 - an environmental management standard. The purpose of this standard is to help all types of organisations protect the environment, prevent pollution and to improve their environmental performance. Earlier this year the Council signed up to the ambitious 10:10 campaign, which aims to get organisations and individuals to reduce their carbon foot print by 10% in 2010.
