Press Room12/02/2010 LOCAL LINK LAUNCHES ONLINE BOOKING SERVICE Stockport Council has launched an online booking form provide a more convenient and accessible service to Local Link users. To book the demand-responsive service, residents in Offerton, Stepping Hill Hospital, Torkington and Hazel Grove can now visit www.stockport.gov.uk/offertonlocallink and book their journey online. Run by the Council, in association with Greater Manchester ITA/PTE, Easygo, Solutions SK and using funding from European project ICMA (Improving Connectivity and Mobility Access), the service provides essential transport links for people to get to healthcare, jobs, shops, and leisure pursuits, as well as connecting with local bus and rail services. Cllr David White, Executive Member of Transportation, said: “The Local Link bus is a flexible and accessible service offering people a cheap, safe and reliable way of getting around their local area to and from essential services. The Local Link service links Hazel Grove Train Station, Offerton, Great Moor, Torkington and Stepping Hill Hospital so by launching the online booking system we are able to make the service even more accessible to our residents.” As well as the online booking system a text message confirmation service and telephone booking is also available on 0161 482 7220. Residents can call up to a week in advance to book a journey.
