You Go for it secondary healthy meal deal promotion gets off to a great start
Pupils at secondary schools in Stockport have the chance to win prizes every day for the next four weeks in March as part of a new school meals promotion.
Solutions SK, the borough’s school meals provider are running the promotion in eight secondary schools. Every time a student buys a £1.75 'Meal Deal' from the menu they are given a voucher with a unique code to enter into a website to see if they've won a prize. At the end of each school day the winners will be emailed.
There are over 50 prizes ranging from £5 i-tunes vouchers to a Samsung digital camera, Samsung blu-ray disc player and an Apple i-pod nano. And at the end of the promotion all entries - whether a daily winner or not - will be entered into a grand draw to win a Nintendo Wii console and Wii Fit plus.
The promotion was launched on Monday 1st March at Cheadle Hulme High School with Year 7 pupils, Kameron Burgess, Ciaran Berry, Jacques Salisbury, Jemma Heald and special guests Matty Mainwaring and Ben Dyson from Stockport County.
The competition got off to a great start with around 20 entries on the first day with three winners - Paul Smyth and Robert Wightman from St Anne’s RC High and Jordan Sumpter from Werneth High. Paul won a £10 amazon voucher, Robert won a £25 ticketmaster voucher and Jordan won a £15 i-tunes voucher.
Nic Cox, Managing Director of Solutions SK, said: “We are very keen to promote healthy eating amongst young people, and this promotion is an innovative approach to achieving this. We will be able to measure the results at the end of the promotion to see how successful it has been.”
Cheadle Hulme High School Headteacher, Mrs Magrath, said: “We are very happy to be involved in this project, which encourages our pupils to eat healthily.”
