Press Room24/03/2010 Young Entrepreneurs Face 'Dragons' 21 students took part in the Enterprise Day which was held at the Pendlebury Centre in Stockport. The students where split into four groups and set the task of designing and creating a mug and packaging, plus marketing it with a TV advert, a radio jingle or a presentation. A Dragons Den style judging panel made up of Council officers plus Councillor Stuart Bodsworth, Executive Member for the Environment and Nic Cox, Managing Director of Solutions SK, Stockport Council’s wholly owned company. The teams presented their business plans to the panel and then answered any questions. The judging panel decided that Mugshots.com were the winning company because of their excellent team work. They also had an original idea with a well researched marketing strategy. Their presentation was clear, concise and carried out with confidence. Pendlebury Centre PRU Headteacher, Janice Cahill, said: “This was a fantastic learning opportunity for our students to experience the complexities of setting up a company, creating a product and producing an effective advertising campaign. We are very grateful of the support of our wider community, Solutions SK and the Council representatives who acted as our ‘Dragons’.” Nic Cox, said: “I was delighted to be asked to judge the enterprise day. Some of the ideas that the students had were excellent – there was a lot of creative flair in all the groups that took part in this event.”
