Employee Gains Top Award
A Solutions SK employee was selected as runner up for the much sought after Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) Apprentice of the Year Award for 2010.
Andrew Sumner, an Apprentice Mason in the Highways department for Solutions SK, a wholly owned Stockport Council company, gained the award at the National Roads, Highways and Street Lighting Conference in Newcastle.
The award is testament to Andrew’s achievements, who has just completed his 1st year NVQ Level 2 in Modular Pavement Construction.
APSE is a local government body working with over 300 councils throughout the UK promoting excellence in public services. APSE is considered specialists in local authority driven front-line services including that of highway related construction works.
Councillor David White, Executive Member for Transportation and Chair of the Highways and Street Lighting Panel, said: “We are delighted that Andrew was selected for the much sought after APSE Apprentice of the Year Award. Gaining the runner up award also recognises Solutions SK as a company that invests in, and provides employment opportunities through apprenticeship schemes.”
Solutions SK maintains and improves more than 1,600 miles of roads and footpaths in the borough.
