Environmental Accreditation for Solutions SK

Solutions SK, Stockport Council’s wholly owned company, has gained accreditation to environmental management standard ISO 14001:2004.

Solutions SK set about meeting the standard last year by making sure that any pollution was prevented, minimising use of energy and resources, and showing a continual improvement in environmental performance.

An internal team have been working to implement the standard over the last 12 months, and received approval from external auditors SGS following a week long inspection.

The accreditation is a culmination of work across Solutions SK to reduce its carbon footprint and introduce new schemes such as greener driving lessons and an on-site baling machine to recycle larger amounts of cardboard and plastic.

Nic Cox, Managing Director of Solutions SK said: “We wanted to demonstrate our commitment to the environment and its protection through our operations and this accreditation is the perfect way to do so. We believe it sets us apart from the competition whilst reducing any impact we may have on the environment. I would like to thank the team involved for their hard work.”

Solutions SK Ltd offer a diverse range of services to the Council, residents and local businesses such as security & CCTV, grounds maintenance, building maintenance, commercial waste and recycling collection, highways and street lighting, commercial cleaning, venue catering, school meals, passenger transport and domestic refuse and recycling collection.
