Stockports’s residents satisfied with local link service

Stockport Council’s Local Link bus service is going from strength to strength and has received some very positive feedback from residents.

Now a year old and averaging 91 trips per week, the service is just one of the 600 value for money services that the Council provides for local people.

Run in association with Greater Manchester ITA/PTE, Easygo, Solutions SK and using funding from European project ICMA (Improving Connectivity and Mobility Access), the service provides essential transport links for people to get to healthcare, jobs, shops, and leisure pursuits, as well as connecting with local bus and rail services.

Offerton resident and Local Link user Jean Collins said: “I have found the Local Link service to be second to none at a time when I was more or less house bound, due to an injury to my foot and the severe winter weather.

“I would like to say a big thank you to the organisers of the Local Link Bus service, it’s my ‘pot of gold’.”

Cllr David White, Executive Member of Transportation, said: “As part of our Stockport Boost campaign we are committed to offering good value services to our residents so to hear residents are satisfied with the services we provide is wonderful.

“The Local Link bus is a flexible and accessible service offering people a cheap, safe and reliable way of getting around their local area to and from essential services. The Local Link service links Hazel Grove Train Station, Offerton, Great Moor, Torkington and Stepping Hill Hospital so I would urge anyone who has not used it to give it a go.”
