School Meals Catering covers a range of services across 9 secondary school sites within the borough of Stockport.

Our aim is to deliver high quality, value for money meals for students.

Did you know?

• Our pizzas have a fat free base
• The baked beans used in our schools are low salt and low sugar
• We only have sugar free jelly and whirls
• A selection of fresh fruit and salad is available daily
• We have energy giving boxed pasta salads
• Jacket potatoes with various hot & cold toppings are available daily
• We provide unsweetened fresh fruit cuplets i.e. apple, orange, pineapple
• All items are baked, not fried except chipped potatoes (only one or two times a week, not daily). There are chip-free zones in all schools
• Brown rice is used in our dishes
• Wholemeal flour is used in our cookies, pizza bases and pastry
• We offer 'sugar free' fruit drinks
• We have a 'Food Additives Policy' for 'E' numbers
• We offer low fat regionally produced yoghurts
• Vegetarian dishes are prepared daily
• Semi-skimmed milk is used for cooking and drinking
• An extensive range of breads are used for Deli Bars including wholemeal, sun dried tomato, olive bread etc. and wraps (tomato & spinach)
• At least two low fat fillings are available daily for sandwiches, salads or jacket potatoes
• We only use tuna in brine
• We use free range eggs in all our home made dishes
• Our mayonnaise is made with free range eggs and is used for sandwich fillings, the salad bar and in jacket potato fillings
• We use whole wheat pasta in lasagne, spaghetti etc
• We use MSC fish (which meets the Marine Stewardship Council accreditation)
• During the growing season our fresh fruit, vegetables and salad produce is sourced from regional farms in Cheshire, Lancashire and the Fylde Coast
• Our menus now feature products accredited with The Red Tractor and the British Quality Standard
• We have developed a series of food zones in schools such as Panini Bars, Pasta 'n' Pizza, Cool Zones – including sandwich, deli and salad bars
• Our daily meal deals include healthy eating options
• We are currently working with secondary school, students, parents, governors, catering staff, teachers, Food Ambassador, home economics departments and the Primary Care Trust to develop S.N.A.G. (School Nutritional Action Groups) in secondary schools.
• We work with the schools in order to develop healthy eating strategies and policies.
