Sub-categories and classes

What are classes of information?

'Classes' of information the company will publish

The Scheme identifies the "classes" of information that the company will publish. In devising these classes the company has undertaken an information audit to establish all the information that it holds, this includes such documents as plans, policies, leaflets and information on the website. We have also considered the most frequently asked questions and most routinely published information, we have considered website hits and looked at press requests.

The scheme has been divided into categories and sub-categories; the sub-categories have then been divided into classes. These classes describe in more detail what is available in the scheme.

The scheme is divided into 7 categories:

  1. Who we are and what we do
  2. What we spend and how we spend it*
  3. What our priorities are and how we are doing*
  4. How we make our decisions*
  5. Our policies and procedures
  6. Lists and registers*
  7. The services we offer

Within the Publication Scheme some classes will have information which is exempt under Part 2 of the Freedom of Information Act or under other relevant legislation. This will place limits on the information available. Where exemptions apply to a class they have been marked with an asterisk (*).
