Solutions SK provide Stockport Council's street cleansing operations. We provide a service throughout the entire year (excluding Christmas Day and New Year's Day). It is Solutions SK's responsibility to ensure that Stockport's streets are maintained to a high environmental standard as per the guidelines laid out under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Our aim is to:

• Keep all roads free from litter, detritus, weed growth, rubbish and animal faeces
• Empty litter bins at a frequency that prevents them from overflowing
• Keep public land free of fly tipping (and we work with the Council's enforcement officers to ensure fly-tipping is investigated and legal action taken, where appropriate)
• Keep the roads clear of dangerous wet leaves and blossom
• Attend at road traffic accidents and reports of dead animals and drug litter, notifying the owners of dead animals, wherever possible
• Investigate reports of abandoned vehicles within 24 hours
• Remove abandoned within 24 hours after expiry of notification.

We are responsible for emptying and maintaining over 1200 public litter bins across the borough.

The majority of sites are visited daily to ensure that they do not overflow and are maintained adequately. The only exceptions are on Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Need a new litter bin?

To accommodate requests we will monitor reported sites and where appropriate additional bins will be installed. Not all sites are suitable to accommodate a new bin. Levels of litter are taken into account and new bins are provided on a priority basis.
